The name DeLoach has long been associated with excellent California wines. After selling their original flagship winery, the DeLoach family started Hook & Ladder on 375 acres situated in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. Today the family run business is as successful as ever and producing award winning wines! Michael DeLoach, president and all around fun guy, will be here to show his wines.
in 1962, Maggie and Harry Wetzel purchased a large portion of a homestead built by Cyrus Alexander, the valley's nineteenth century namesake. In 1975 the family built a small winery and Hank Wetzel, oldest son of Maggie and Harry, produced Alexander Valley Vineyards' first wine. The 3rd generation of the Wetzel Family is now active in the winery and continues the family tradition at AVV. Hank, a knowledgeable, warm and friendly chap, will be here pouring his family wines.
Plus, our talented chef has planned a fabulous five-course menu to complement these magnificent wines:
HORS D'OEUVRES
Mini Chesapeake Crab cakes with Cajun remoulade
Torchon de Foie Gras- fig compote
Seared Ahi Tuna and avocado wasabi cream

Confectionary delights are an excellent way to show your love and affection for your special someone, as is a trip to the Opera!
February 14 happens to fall on the night of a performance of "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Sarasota Opera House and to make the spectacular simple, we’ve chosen our top three desserts for this romantic evening:
Bijou’s Assorted Authentic Italian Gelati and Sorbettos: a taste of Italy sets the stage perfectly for an after-dinner date for the Italian-sung comedy opera The Marriage of Figaro.
Amarula Crème Brulee: try your tongue at the language of love, French, while ordering this decadent delight, s’il vous plaît! Share your spoon and let your date crack the golden caramelized shell.
Callebaut Finest Belgian Chocolate Mousse: celebrate National Chocolate Month and show your date just how sweet you think he or she is with this whipped cream topped delight.
Want to go the extra mile? Impressing your Valentine can be as simple as surprising your date with a small card with a heartfelt message or a bouquet of roses. A single rose works too!
Since Valentine’s falls on both a Saturday and an opera night, we suggest you reserve your tables early and rest assured that your Valentine’s plans are taken care of.
Friday Hours: 5-10pm
Saturday (Valentine’s Day) Hours: 5-10pm
Sunday Hours: 4-8pm

After a long, hot and thankfully uneventful summer (weather wise) we are truly ready for fall! Up north the leaves are displaying their majestic golden hues while here in Florida we know it's fall when the license plates change color! It's not too early to plan your Thanksgiving Dinner or even Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at the Bijou Cafe.
If you don't feel like cooking for your whole family, we are offering our full a la carte dinner menu on Thanksgiving Day. We will have several chef's specials and, of course, our famous Roast Carolina Turkey with all the trimmings. The tasty, festive turkey dinner is $28.95 per person and $12.00 for children under 12. Secure your reservation (and turkey!) today. We will be open from noon to 8pm.
If you are looking to host your thanksgiving at your home instead, don't forget to swing by the Bijou to pick up our "Pommes Gratin". Bring your own casserole dish and we will fill it up so you can present it as your own home cooking. You simply finish at home and your family will be truly "Thankful"!
Holiday parties are so much fun, but even better when someone else organized it all for you. Our two private dining rooms are the perfect venue for this. Call Karen Thomson, our General Manager at 941 366-8111 and let her expertise in event planning will help make your event memorable!
If you have been away all summer, welcome back! If you are a permanent resident, it's always good to see you, so please give us a call!

No one understands Happy Hour better than the Bijou. While we love our wines and martinis, sometimes we just need a nice cold brew after a long week! To that end, JP and our staff took it upon themselves to tackle this most important question: what craft brews should the Bijou Café offer?
One of the first options we explored was JDub’s Brewing Co, based right here in Sarasota. We were pleased to have the opportunity to tour their brewery last month and learn all about their history and innovative beers, and felt right at home at JDub's, where the motto is "Quality, Innovation and Culture."
JDub’s uses only the highest quality ingredients their beers including real honey and coffee, not extracts. Their tasty brews are matched by their quality, passionate employees. After our tour, we were ready to add JDub's to our list of craft beers at the Bijou!
Come try one of many handpicked craft beers, or any other of our specialty cocktails with friends after work. During happy hour, all our beers are $1 off! And don’t miss our special Oktoberfest menus coming soon to pair with these excellent beers.

One of the best things about the work day being over is cocktail hour beginning! We know you deserve a drink, which is why our mixologists revamped our cocktail menu just for you.
New and exciting cocktails include one we call White is the New Pink (Kettle One Vodka, Cointreau, fresh lime and white cranberry juice) as well as the Sarasota Limeade, simply Hangar One Lime Vodka and tonic.
Looking for something a bit more creative? Try a sip of a Daria's Siesta (pictured here, it's coconut rum, pineapple juice, a drizzle of grenadine and a splash of black rum) or a Basil Gin Smash (Hendrick’s Gin, Limoncello and muddled fresh basil and lemon). Whatever your poison may be, we will make it strong, and tasty!
These drinks are great by themselves, but if you get a bit hungry, our bar bites are a perfect compliment. We've also got happy hour pricing on well martinis or, if you're looking for something cold and smooth, try one of our craft beers for $1 off! Happy Hour at the Bijou is now every day from 5 to 7 p.m.!
Here's a link to the full cocktail menu to see the rest of our new creations: https://bijoucafe.net/menus/latest-gossip

We have been Zagat rated for years, and this year we were very honored to find that the Bijou has the highest Zagat score in Sarasota County! We are so proud to receive a score of 26 out of 30 in all three categories: food, decor and service.
We hold the Zagat Survey in highest regard because its integrity cannot be compromised by purchasing advertising. The ratings of real customers who have not been influenced in any way is the ultimate in honesty. With thousands of people sharing their opinions through featured surveys, Zagat uses the results to create ratings and reviews which are published online and in Zagat guides.
Among choice quotes such as "more elegant than most" and "traditional Continental" cuisine with "modern style," Zagat noted we are a favorite for those attending the Sarasota Opera and other downtown arts events.
SNN 6 news even came out to cover this story! See JP's interview here:
Thank you all for your support throughout the years, we couldn't have done it without you. Don't forget, we have extended our discount priced Savor Sarasota menus for lunch and dinner all summer! And of course, our happy hour from 5-7pm, Monday through Saturday. See you at the Bijou soon!

Because of the remarkable discount prices of our wine, we sold a ton at the last "First Friday", but we still need some more room in our cellar. JP is giving away a whole case of wine in a drawing to anyone attending the wine tasting.*
Win or not, this is an amazing opportunity to pick up some very good wines at rock bottom prices. (JP is serious about making some room!) You will see the "BIN END SALE TABLE" at the wine tasting.
And as an added treat, "Rob the Wine Guy" will be giving us all a taste of his hand made American spirits...Tuthilltown, Half Moon Gin 'Wheat and Apple' from New York and Smooth Ambler, Old Scout 'Rye Whisky' from West Virginia
The next First Friday Wine Tasting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Fri., June 6. The cost is $18 per person and includes unlimited tastings as well as passed hors d'oeuvres and the Bijou's signature cheese board. Reservations are not required. After the wine tasting, join us for dinner!
* Winner of drawing will receive 12 bottles of wine selected by the Bijou. Winner must have paid to enter the wine tasting and be present. No substitutions or cash value.

As sad as we are to see many of our friends leave Sarasota for cooler climates, we're happy to have our town back for a while (less traffic at least)! For us, summer means First Fridays and pouring some of the best "juice" for our guests!
We are officially announcing the return of our First Friday Wine Tastings, from 5 to 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month during the summer, beginning Fri., May 2.
Wine merchants from around the area will be pouring wines and sharing knowledge with you. Passed hors d'oeuvres and an enormous cheese board to complement the wines are all included for just $18.
Grab your friends, enjoy the wine tasting, then join us for dinner! After dinner take a stroll around downtown. Most of the art galleries and shops are open late on First Fridays and there is even free entertainment on some of the street corners! No reservations are needed for the wine tasking, just get here early, it's first come, first served!
Guests will also be able to purchase discounted wines to take home or enjoy in the restaurant as part of the our semi-annual "Bin End Sale". We are clearing out our cellar to make room for new wines, so stock up! Take a bottle or a case, it's the best deal we're going to have all year!
See you May 2! Come hungry, bring your friends and plan to stay all night.

How cool is this!
Marybeth Bond, a renowned travel writer, author, contributor to CNN /ABC, and founder of GutsyTraveler.com listed the Bijou Cafe as one of the most romantic places to enjoy a great meal in her "Top 10 Romantic Destinations" article/infographic.
Marriot International, a partner with Ms. Bond, reached out to us to let us know about the honor and share this awesome infographic with us. According to them, "Sarasota County tops the list in terms of beauty and the ingredients for sweet romance." In addition to Sarasota's Opera House, Ringling Museum and beaches, they singled us as the best romantic restaurant in the area saying: "The winning attributes of this restaurant besides the shrimp and lobster bisque is the service and outdoor tables."
You can read the full article by Marybeth Bond here or get more info on travel from Marriott.
Tell your friends! SRQ, as usual, is the place to be!
